Whitstable & Chestfield Golf Club

The works comprised of the construction of a new single storey Club house. The build has to be sensitively co-ordinated due to the close proximity of the existing Clubhouse which is to remain in full operation for the duration of the works.

The foundations involve a series PFA piles connected to reinforced ground beams to support a suspended beam and block floor.

The main structure comprises a complicated pitched steel frame forming vaulted ceilings and cantilevered overhangs. Slate coverings enclose the roof which include Cupola ventilation shafts.

Traditional cavity masonry walls, some with a rendered finish on blockwork form the envelope. Windows and doors form a large percentage of the external cavity wall space.

Upon completion of the new building the existing clubhouse is to be demolished to allow completion of the external works.
