St Peter's Methodist Hall, Canterbury.
St Peter's Methodist Church was built in 1811 and
replaced earlier buildings in the town. One of the earlier
buildings was known as the ‘Pepper Pot’
and was octagonal in shape.
In view of this when the new hall was proposed alongside
the Church the design in turn was octagonal to reflect
the earlier building.
The new hall is built of timber frame with brickwork
outer skin. The ceiling and floor are finished in wood
and the walls plastered.
The hall design includes seating for sixty people,
kitchen, meeting room, WC’s and disabled toilet.
On entering the hall there is a large foyer area for
reception.
The hall is directly linked into the church and is
used separately and linked to the church when required.
It is also very popular for outreach such as Scouts,
Guides, Book Fairs, Lectures and Meetings.
