Previously a stable block, this interesting conversion to provide period living accommodation is set in a site called The Moat near to the centre of the village of Charing.
Historical maps show that the site was developed in 1871 to provide the stable block to the original house.
Careful and considerate design incorporates retention of the existing rear, gable and spine walls. A new piled slab has been formed within the footprint of the building together with underpinning of the existing walls.
The new front elevation is a combination of reclaimed red facing brickwork and weatherboarding with reclaimed clay roof tiling. Existing flint walls are to be repaired. Period softwood joinery completes the elegant front elevation design. |
