Dame Janet Junior School, Ramsgate

This project comprises a new single storey extension within the courtyard of the existing School and is attached to the main hall with existing corridors at each end. The new extension provides the School with a Care suite and Physio room, staff male and female toilets and additional girl’s toilet facilities.

Due to the location of the extension, the only route available to access the courtyard was via the existing corridor leading to the playground. We worked closely with the Head teacher and staff to ensure that our activities did not impede the day to day running of the School. There are occupied classrooms off of both corridors and the hall is in constant use for activities, teaching and lunches. All materials were carefully handled using this route including all excavated material and the new concrete for the foundations and the ground bearing slab. The works included replacement windows to the hall, new drainage and soft landscaping.
The works were completed on time and the final account was agreed prior to practical completion.
