This extension to the existing dining facilities involved
cutting into the rear bank which had already been formed
as a patio area. A Design and Build package was awarded
for the retaining structure of piles and ground beams
required to achieve the cut in to the bank. Logistically
this was a difficult build and needed careful planning
because of the crane access required and the need to
work around the pub which continued to operate for the
duration of the contract. Conservation consideration
was carefully managed and implemented.
The project was completed on time and therefore allowed
for further discussion to be continued with the client
for a second phase. The extension to the dining area
provides seating for 20 additional diners and the pub
can now also accommodate meetings and conference facilities.
